Ladder 4 Update

This morning, at 08:00 hours, several members visited the KME plant in Nesquehoning PA to inspect the progress on the new Ladder truck.
Crews were pleased to see that the ladder truck was nearly completed. The truck committee members as well as the other members that attended went over the new ladder truck and made some minor changes with KME.

Assist Newtown Square With Large Brush Fire

At 12:23 hours Delco Station 41 (Newtown Square) was dispatched for a brush fire in the 900 block of Providence Road. Due to Delco Chief 41-9 getting reports of a large brush fire that was approaching a house, he requested assistance from Tac 3 (Paoli), Brush 4 (Malvern), and Delco 64-8 (Edgemont). At 12:31 hours Brush 56 (Goshen) and Engine 4-5 (Malvern) were dispatched to assist.

Auto Accident on Paoli Pike

At 07:56 hours Station 4 Fire and EMS were dispatched to the Intersection of Paoli Pike and Devon Road in Willistown for an Auto Accident with Unknown Injuries. At 08:00 hours Assistant 4 (Johnson) arrived on location to find two vehicles involved. At this time Fire Police from Station 4 and Station 3 (Paoli) were dispatched for traffic control.

Rapid Intervention Team To Berwyn

At 13:41 hours Station 2 (Berwyn), Station 3 (Paoli), and Delco Station 15 (Radnor) were dispatched to the 900 Block of Contention Lane in Tredyffrin for a House Fire. At 13:53 hours, after Berwyn units had arrived on location and investigated, the call was upgraded to a working fire. Crews found fire inside of the walls and a smoke condition inside. Late Night Auto Accident with Entrapment

At 23:31 hours Station 4 Ambulance was dispatched to Village Way in the area of the General Warren Inn for an Auto Accident with Unknown Injuries. At 23:33 hours the assignment was upgraded to an Auto Accident reported Serious. This brought Rescue 4, Medic 4, and Station 5.

Controlled Burn In First Due

At 19:41 hours, station 4 was dispatched to the unit block of Wildwood Dr. for a reported trash/dumpster fire. Deputy 4 (Gastwirth) and Asst. 4A (N. Vaughn) were first onscene to find a controlled burn of logs. Brush 4 with Capt. 4 (K. Vaughn), Eng. 4-5 with Lt. 4B (M. Rychlak) and Sqd. 4 with Lt. 4A (G. Zarcone) made the response and worked on fire suppression.
Automatic Fire Alarm Becomes Working House Fire

At 18:06 hours Station 4 was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm in the 700 block of Warren Avenue. Chief 4 (Wilkins) responded and was advised that the alarm was coming from a smoke detector in the basement. Assistant 4A (Vaughn) arrived onscene with nothing showing from the front of the structure. Upon investigation a working fire was found in the basement. Command Class Comes to Malvern Fire Company

On February 7th, 2009, the Malvern Fire Company hosted a Command class through the Command School. The class taught roles and expectations of ICS through the NIMS structure. The class consisted of three scenarios that taught the various components of the ICS system including roles and responsibilities of the command structure. The participants learned how to operate command for large and small incidents in our community.
House Fire Response In First Due

At 23:14 hours Station 4 , Station 56 (Goshen), and Rescue 5 (East Whiteland) were dispatched to the unit block of Sherman Drive in East Goshen Township. Deputy 4 (Gastwirth) went enroute and was advised that the smoke detector in the basement was activating. The report was also that the homeowner could smell and see smoke in the basement. Minutes later Rescue 4, Rescue 5, and Ladder 56 went enroute.
