By Leadership Team
August 28, 2026
Being prepared can make emergencies less stressful and help older adults stay safe, connected, and independent. A few simple steps can make a big difference: π Keep an updated list of medications, medical contacts, and important phone numbers. π§ Have several days of water, nonperishable food, and essential supplies on hand. π¦ Keep flashlights, extra batteries, and a phone charger easily accessible. π Maintain an emergency supply of needed medications when possible. π§βπ€βπ§ Create a support network of family, friends, neighbors, or caregivers. π Plan ahead for transportation and evacuation needs. π± Know how youβll receive emergency alerts and stay in touch. Preparedness isnβt about expecting the worstβitβs about being ready for whatever comes next. Start with one small step today. β€οΈ
