Building Fire with East Whiteland
By News Desk
May 23, 2009
At 1258hrs the Malvern Fire Company along with Paoli Fire Company were dispatched to assist East Whiteland Fire Company for a Building Fire at Homewood Suites. Chester County Fire Board informed all responding units that they had a fire on the fourth floor. Deputy 5 went on scene with nothing showing and the building evacuated. Ladder 4 went en route at 1302hrs and arrived on scene right behind Engine 5-2. Engine 5-2's crew went to the fourth floor while the Ladder crew split up with half going to secure the sprinklers and the other half going to the third floor to check for extension. Engine 4-5 went en route at 1306hrs and arrived on scene at 1312hrs. They then proceeded to stage in the parking lot. Station 5 crews found that personal belongings on the stove caught fire and the sprinkler system put the fire out prior to fire units arriving. Deputy 5 held the assignment to all units on scene. After Ladder 4’s crew secured the sprinkler system, crews took two fans to the fourth floor to remove all of the remaining smoke. Once completed, Station 4 and 5 units cleared the scene and went available.
