By News Desk
January 23, 2012

At 14:49 hours TAC 4 was dispatched to King Road and Frazer Rd in East Whiteland to assist Station 5 on the Accident With Entrapment. Approximately ten minutes prior to the TAC being dispatched, Station 5 and Medic 4 were initially dispatched to the scene.

Deputy 5 and Chief arrived to find one vehicle into the telephone pole with the driver of the vehicle trapped inside and two other occupants to be checked by EMS. Ambulance 5 and Medic 4 arrived and began gaining access to the patient as well as beginning patient care. Chief 5 established King Road Command. Engine 5-2 and Engine 5-5 arrived and began stabilizing the vehicle. Initial efforts began with the removal of the roof completely.

It was at this point that King Rd. Command requested TAC 4 to the scene to assist. Also making the response was the second ambulance out of Station 4. TAC 4 arrived and was ordered to assist with the extrication of the victim.

Both Station 4 and Station 5 units worked to remove the roof, remove the passenger door for access, and to displace the dash. The driver was heavily entrapped due to the telephone pole striking the drivers side door as well as the victims legs being trapped under the dash.

At 15:31 hours Command reported that the victim had been completely extricated from the vehicle. Ambulance 5 and Ambulance 4 both transported patients to Paoli Memorial Hospital.

TAC 4 cleared the scene at 15:47 hours.
