| At 12:00 hours Station 4 was dispatched to assist Station 5 (East Whiteland) on a House Fire. Station 5 Chief Officers responded and were advised of smoke coming from the roof vents. Engine 5-3 and Ladder 4 (Captain Rychlak) both responded. FM 42C arrived to find smoke showing from the front and fire showing from the rear of the residence. Deputy 5 (Nowaczyk) established Diane Drive Command. Engine 5-3 arrived and advanced an attack line through the front door to find the fire. Ladder 4 joined up with Deputy and Assistant 4 and were ordered to perform outside truck company operations. The Ladder crew split and sent crews to the roof and to the rear of the residence. The crew on the roof cut a vent hole in order to improve conditions on the interior engine crew. The crew to the rear used saws to cut windows into doors in order to make the house more accessible due to the amount of debris and possessions hindering access. Tower 2 was on the scene at the Rapid Intervention team. Once the fire was placed under control, crews remained on the scene for a long time performing extensive overhaul and making sure all hot spots were out. Station 4 EMS was also on the scene. Station 4 units cleared the scene at 14:39 hours. |
