| Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Never drive through standing or moving water. What appears to be a shallow puddle may conceal a washed-out road, debris, or a dangerous drop-off.
Water can move quickly. Just 12 inches of moving water can carry away a small vehicle, and even less can cause a driver to lose control.
If you see water covering the roadway, turn around and find another route. Do not assume you can judge the depth from your vehicle, and never drive around barricades.
Taking a few extra minutes to choose a safer path can save lives. If you are unsure, stay out of the water. |
