| Whether volunteer or career, there is something we should never forget: The public trusts us. They open their doors to us. They hand us their children. They trust us with their parents, their homes, their lives, and sometimes their final moments. When the alarm sounds, someone is having what may be the worst day of their life — and we have been given the privilege of being the ones who answer. It doesn't matter whether you receive a paycheck or volunteer your time. The patch may be different. The uniform may be different. But the responsibility is the same. Show up. Be ready. Be compassionate. Be professional. Serve. Fire and EMS isn't about the title on your collar or the name on the side of the apparatus. It's about the person waiting for help on the other side of that call. Never take the uniform for granted. Never take the public's trust for granted. And never forget what an incredible privilege it is to serve. 🚒🚑 Volunteer or career. One mission. One community. One commitment — to answer the call. |
