| Whether you’re staying in a hotel, vacation rental, RV, or with family and friends, take a few minutes when you arrive to locate at least two exits and make sure smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are present and working. In hotels, know where the stairs are and remember—never use an elevator during a fire. If a fire occurs, get out and stay out! Stay low if there is smoke, feel doors for heat before opening them, use an alternate exit if necessary, and call 911 once you are safely outside. A few minutes of planning when you arrive can make a lifesaving difference. Enjoy your trip, make memories, and stay fire safe! |
