๐Ÿš’ Why do firefighters shake their hips on the fireground?
If you've ever noticed firefighters swaying or shifting from side to side while standing by, they're not dancingโ€”they're staying ready.

A firefighter wearing full turnout gear and an SCBA can be carrying 50โ€“75 pounds of equipment. Those small movements help relieve pressure on the hips and lower back, reposition the air pack, improve circulation, and reduce fatigue after intense work.

There's another important reason, too: every SCBA is equipped with a PASS (Personal Alert Safety System) device. If a firefighter remains motionless for too long, the PASS begins to sound a pre-alert and then a loud emergency alarm to signal that the firefighter may be in distress. Keeping slight, deliberate movement helps prevent unnecessary activation while remaining ready for the next assignment.

Every movement on the fireground has a purpose. Preparation, safety, and making sure everyone goes home. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’
