Malvern Fire Company Clarifies Position on Duffryn Mawr Project

Malvern, PA — The Board of Trustees of the Malvern Fire Company wishes to clarify its position regarding recent public discussions surrounding the Duffryn Mawr development project.

It has come to our attention that the name of the Malvern Fire Company has been referenced in connection with advocacy efforts related to this project. The Fire Company is not affiliated with, nor does it endorse, any individual or group using our name in this context.

In early 2025, Fire Department officers met with representatives of the development team to provide a series of recommendations intended to improve emergency access and operational effectiveness in the event of an incident. These recommendations were advisory in nature and exceeded the minimum requirements of the applicable building and fire codes.

Since that initial meeting, the Malvern Fire Company has not participated in ongoing project planning discussions and has not been engaged by the developers or other stakeholders regarding subsequent decisions.

Recently, the Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief met with local residents who inquired about the Fire Company’s prior input. During that meeting, it was reiterated that the Fire Company’s involvement was limited to the original advisory discussion and that we are not currently part of the development process.

The Malvern Fire Company is aware that certain individuals, who are not affiliated with our organization, have publicly referenced our name in connection with their opposition to the project. These statements do not represent the position of the Malvern Fire Company.

As a matter of policy, should the Malvern Fire Company identify concerns related to any development within our response area, we address those matters directly and professionally through coordination with the Borough of Malvern and appropriate regulatory authorities.

The Malvern Fire Company remains committed to its mission of protecting life and property and will continue to work collaboratively with municipal partners to ensure public safety.
