At 18:07, the Malvern Fire Company was dispatched to Nolan Drive in the borough for a report of a smoking boiler. A neighbor, Past Chief Rapp, discovered smoke throughout the residence and a fire in the boiler.

Deputy 4 arrived on scene and requested an additional engine company and an operations channel. Engine 4 then arrived and located a small fire in the boiler. The fire was quickly contained, and crews began ventilating the home.

Firefighters from Engine 4 and Squad 3 remained at the scene until they were released by command.
