Just before 10:00 a.m., Malvern units, along with our mutual aid partners, were dispatched for a reported house fire. Malvern chiefs arrived to find smoke throughout the basement. Ladder 56 arrived as the first-due truck, with Engine 5 arriving just behind and assuming the first-due engine assignment. Units from Stations 4, 5, and 54/56 investigated a smoking boiler in the basement. Crews secured all HVAC components and removed burning debris. The incident was scaled back to units from Stations 4, 5, and 54/56. Crews operated until all hazards were mitigated, and the scene was turned back over to the owners.
