On Sunday evening at 17:33hrs, Station 4 along with mutual aid assistance from Station 3 (Paoli) and Station 2 (Berwyn) for RIT was dispatched to the unit block of Castlebar Road in Willistown Township for a reported house fire. Initial notes indicated that there was a sofa on fire inside the house.

Chief 4 arrived and observed that the homeowner had removed the burning sofa from the home, but there was a smoke condition inside and the possibility of fire extension to a window frame and inside the walls.

Ladder 4 arrived and crews opened up the impacted area to ensure there was no fire extension and extinguished the smoldering couch outside. With no extension found, the assignment was reduced and held to Malvern units.

The Chester County Fire Marshals Office is investigating this fire. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. Final Malvern units cleared the scene at 18:57 hrs.
