Thanks to funds provided largely by FEMA's 2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant, the Malvern Fire Company worked through the latter half of 2015 and early 2016 to acquire a multi-functional training prop. As an added benefit, this training prop is mounted on a trailer, so that it can be moved when and where necessary to facilitate the best possible training.

The prop enables Malvern firefighters to train on a variety of topics like forcible entry on inward swinging, outward swinging and overhead roll up doors. Firefighters can simulate the rescue of firefighters and civilians out of windows or holes in the floor as well as vertical ventilation on both flat and pitched roofs. Each and every one of these skills could be necessary when responding to fire incidents in and around Malvern.

The prop arrived at the Malvern Fire Company in April of 2016 after being on display at FDIC in Indianapolis, Indiana. Since then volunteers and staff have utilized the prop numerous times to train on various skills. Most recently, firefighters trained on forcible entry on Saturday the 25th of June. We look forward to many more training sessions and improving our skills so we can better serve our community.
