Vehicle Fire after Crash on Providence Road

At 10:17 hrs on Tuesday March 1st, the Malvern Fire Company was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Providence Road east of Sugartown Road in Willistown Township.

Chief 4 (Gastwirth) responded and was advised that the caller was reporting flames from the trunk of the vehicle and given an updated location of Providence Road and Steeplechase Lane. Chief 4 arrived shortly after and reported one vehicle well off with extension to nearby brush.

Tac 4 arrived and placed a 1 3/4" hoseline in service to extinguish the bulk of the fire. Engine 4-5 arrived and supplied tank water to Tac 4 while crews finished cooling any hotspots. Additionally, a forestry line was placed in service to extinguish the small brush fires burning as a result of the vehicle fire.

The fire was placed under control at 10:39 hrs. Malvern Fire Police closed Providence Road between Sugartown Road and Warren Avenue for the duration of the incident. Final Malvern units were clear of the scene at 11:38 hrs after the vehicle was removed from the scene.
