On Saturday December 5th at 0648 hrs The Paoli Fire Company was dispatched to the intersection of Paoli Pike and Grubb Road for the report of a chimney fire. Chief 3(Dutter) made the response and was advised that the assignment was being upgraded to a house fire. With this information, he added Ladder 4 to the assignment. Shortly thereafter, the Police Department arrived and confirmed that the address was determined to be within Malvern Fire Company response area, which re-alerted initial companies, brought the balance from station 4, two engines from station 5(East Whiteland), and RIT from station 2(Berwyn).

Chief 3 and the Willistown Township PD rescued two civilians off of a roof as Chief 4 (N. Vaughn) arrived on location, established Grubb Road command and began giving incoming orders. Engine 3-1 arrived on location and began fire suppression. Ladder 4 arrived shortly after and was given the assignment of venting the roof. As the crews of ladder 4 and Engine 3-1 carried out the initial orders, crews from other assisting companies arrived and performed various fireground tasks such as water supply, ventilation, search, and fire suppression. Malvern and Paoli EMS stood by at the scene and provided rehab to on scene crews.

The Working Fire Dispatch added Station 47 (Lionville) for RIT, Air 52 (Goodwill of WCFD) and County Fire Marshals. Additional crews from Goshen, Valley Forge and Radnor were requested to the scene to relieve initial crews on the second alarm assignment. Fire extended through the walls on all floors of the house and crews worked diligently to locate and extinguish all fire.

Brandywine), Engine 51-2(First West Chester), Rescue 61(Kimberton), and MICU 67-3(West End) stood by at station 4 to cover any additional calls for service while crews were committed at the fire scene, as well as assist in cleanup of all equipment used at the fire.
