Ladder 4 Responds to Smoke in the Building and Gas Leak

At 11:35 hrs Ladder 4 was dispatched along with Station 52 (Goodwill of WCFD) and Station 53 (Fame of WCFD) to assist Stations 54 & 56 (Goshen) on the report of smoke in the building in the 1500 block of Paoli Pike in East Goshen.

Information was given to Assistant 56 (Will) of smoke coming from the ceiling with smoke in all rooms and some type of electrical issue. He arrived and confirmed a smoke condition in a end of the row shopping center unit and established Paoli Pike Command. Ladder 4 arrived and set up on side A and laddered the roof. The crew investigated the source of smoke along with crews from Goshen and WCFD. Crews determined the issue to be electrical in nature and the power to the building was secured and the situation was turned over to PECO.

The incident was placed under control at 11:59 hrs and Ladder 4 was released from the scene at 12:09 hrs to handle a second emergency in West Goshen Township.

At 12:09 hrs Ladder 4 and Engine 52-1 responded from the incident on Paoli Pike to the 400 block of South Veronica Rd for a report of a gas stove leaking gas. Units arrived quickly and secured the gas and electric to the residence. After monitoring the air and ventilating, the situation was placed under control at 12:23 hrs. Ladder 4 cleared the scene at 12:33 hrs.

No injuries were reported at either incident.
