Firefighter Competition for our Weekly Training

For Tuesday night's weekly training, crews participated in a firefighter challenge. The objective of this drill was air management and to have a little friendly competition. The course was put together by Career FF/EMT Tom Yervelli.

The course:

Don all Turn Out Gear
Don an SCBA
Carry a Set of Irons and pressurized water can 30 yards to the ladder truck
15 FT rope pull with a foam pale full of water
30 yard walk/run with a 150' 1 3/4 high-rise pack
15 strikes of a sledge hammer onto a truck tire
15 step ups onto the bumper of the Tac

All this was completed while breathing air and in full turnout gear.

Chief Vaughn upped the stakes of the friendly competition by awarding a prize to the winner.
