On Monday March 2nd the company was dispatched at 22:18 for a reported serious accident at the intersection of Paoli Pike and Harvey Lane. Ambulance 4-2 with Medic 4-1, Chief 4, and Deputy 4 arrived shortly after dispatch to find one vehicle into a pole with the driver suffering serious injuries. The EMS crew performed a rapid extrication of the patient and began patient care. Deputy 4 (C. Gastwirth) assumed scene operations and Chief 4 (N. Vaughn) assumed Paoli Pike Command. The crews of Tac and Squad 4 assisted with hazard removal and securing the vehicle. Due to the pole damage, and subsequent pole fire, Paoli Pike was closed by Stations 4, 54, and 56 Fire Police. The pole fire led to power outages in the area sending the Tac and Squad crews to investigate a fire alarm activation at Saint Patrick’s School and a reported transformer fire on Monument Road. Once the incident investigation was completed by Willistown Police, the roadway was barricaded for PECO to perform their necessary repairs and all units cleared the scene at 00:36.
