Saturday January 31st proved to be a busy day for the Malvern Fire Company. The day began slowly but picked up in the mid afternoon and kept fire crews busy until nearly 11PM.

At 15:07 hrs Station 4 was dispatched to the intersection of Paoli Pike and Sugartown Rd in Willistown Township for a vehicle accident. Initial information advised of two vehicles involved. Additionally, information was given that the accident was partially blocking the roadway and the caller was unsure if anyone was injured.

Chief 4 (N. Vaughn) arrived on the scene and reported a three vehicle accident. Tac 4 arrived and secured the vehicles and cleared the roadway of hazards such as debris and leaking fluids. Ambulance and Medic 4-2 determined that there were no injuries and Malvern Fire and EMS crews cleared the scene at 15:35 hrs.

At 18:12 hrs Station 4 was dispatched to the unit block of Rambling Lane in Willistown for reports of a trash can on fire. Additional information indicated that the trash can was on fire up against the house. Deputy 4 (Gastwirth) arrived on the scene confirming the report. Tac 4, Ambulance & Medic 4-2 and Engine 4-5 made the response. Crews quickly extinguished the trash fire on the outside of the house and investigated a moderate smoke condition inside the house. Once crews had determined that the fire had not extended in to the home, Malvern units cleared the scene at 18:47 hrs.

At 18:50 hrs, while on the way back to the firehouse from Rambling Lane, Ladder 4 was alerted to relocate to Station 53 (Fame of WCFD) while West Chester companies operated at a two alarm house fire in West Chester. Ladder 4 arrived at Station 53 shortly after 19:00hrs and covered Station 53 with Delaware County Engine 46 (Rocky Run). No calls for service were dispatched and the Ladder returned to Malvern at 20:38 hrs.

At 20:00 hrs while the Ladder was covering West Chester, Tac 4 was alerted to assist Station 56 (Goshen) with a fire alarm in Willistown Township. Due to information indicating this to be a false alarm, Rescue 54 (Goshen) recalled Tac 4 prior to response.

The fifth and final call of the day came in at 20:55 hrs right after Ladder 4 had returned from covering Station 53. Ladder 4 was alerted to respond to the 300 block of Lancaster Avenue in Radnor Township for a working building fire. Ladder 4 was due for the Rapid Intervention Team and arrived on the scene and performed that function until being released at 22:49hrs.
