At 00:27 hrs Station 3 (Paoli) was dispatched to the 1400 block of Berwyn Paoli Road in Tredyffrin Township for a reported house fire. The initial information was that the basement of the home was filling with Smoke.

Chief 3 (Dutter) arrived and established incident command. He also requested an Engine from Station 2 (Berwyn). As initial companies arrived on the scene finding smoke showing and went in service for an apparent basement fire, Ladder 4 was added for RIT at 00:44 hrs.

Ladder 4 and Chief 4 (N. Vaughn) responded to the incident and set up a RIT staging area, performed 360 degree checks, ensured egress and developed rescue plans.

Station 2 and Station 3 units were able to gain the upper hand and the fire was placed under control at 01:46 hours. Fortunately, RIT services were not needed and after the fire was placed under control Malvern crews were placed in service with overhaul and assisting with cleanup and packing hose.

There was a significant amount of overhaul required due to the amount of debris in the basement. Malvern units cleared the scene at 03:53 hrs. The Chester County Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of this fire. There were no reported civilian or fire fighter injuries.
