Shed Fire Threatens Mobile Homes in East Whiteland

At 21:02 hours Station 4 was dispatched to assist Station 5 (East Whiteland) for a reported mobile home fire in the Bacton Hill Mobile Home Park in East Whiteland Township. Station 2 (Berwyn) was also on the assignment for the Rapid Intervention Team

Additional information was received indicating that the fire was actually in a shed behind a mobile home, and that the shed was fully involved and threatening two nearby mobile homes as well as several large propane tanks.

4-20 (Johnson) was the first to arrive confirming the report of a fully involved shed. Engine 5-1 arrived and deployed two 1 3/4" attack lines to protect exposures and begin to knock down the fire in the shed. Captain 5 (Humphreys) had the Dylan Drive Command.

Ladder 4 arrived and crews assisted with checking the exposure buildings, fire suppression and overhaul. Engine 4-5 arrived and supplied Engine 5-1 with water while the crew assisted with fire suppression and overhaul. Tac 4 was also on the scene to assist with overhaul and extinguishment.

Two nearby mobile homes suffered dammage as a result of the shed fire, but crews were able to stop the fire before it made it inside the exposures.

The fire was placed under control around 21:30 hours. The Chester County Fire Marshals Office investigated the cause of the fire. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries. Station 4 units retunred available at 22:24 hours.
