At 19:11 hrs units from Stations 47 (Lionville) and 87 (Uwchlan EMS) were dispatched to the 1400 block of Horse Shoe Trail Road in West Pikeland Township for an injured person after an equestrian accident.

After arriving on the scene and determining that the patient was located down a trail nearly a mile from the main road, an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was requested to help access and transport the patient out of the woods. Kimberton Fire Company's ATV 61 would have normally been dispatched, however Kimberton had loaned their ATV to the Malvern Fire Company for use during our annual fair.

As the request was made to Station 4 to respond with the ATV 61, ATV 49 (East Brandywine) was also dispatched to the scene. Squad 4 arrived with ATV 61 to assist 47,49 & 87 crews with accessing the patient. Crews from Malvern helped to widen the trail so that ATV 49 could make access to the patient. Uwchlan EMS crews provided patient care until the patient could be extricated from the woods and transported to a nearby hospital.

Malvern units returned after approximately thirty minutes on the scene.
