Accident with Entrapment on Providence Road

At 19:55 hours Malvern Fire and EMS units were dispatched to the area of Providence Road and Steeplechase Lane in Willistown Township for an automobile accident reported with a person trapped. Due to there being reports of entrapment in the vehicle, Rescue 54 (Goshen) was also dispatched on the initial assignment.

Assistant Chief Kyle Vaughn arrived first and confirmed a single vehicle accident with a vehicle on its roof and the driver trapped inside. He established Providence Road Command as crews from Tac 4, Ladder 4, Rescue 54 and Engine 4-5 stabilized the vehicle and utilized the hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver. Throughout the extrication process, Malvern EMS crews provided patient care.

The driver was freed at 20:22 hours and was transported to a local hospital by Malvern EMS crews. Rescue 54 was returned a short time later while Malvern fire units remained on the scene until the incident was investigated and the vehicle was removed from the scene. Final units cleared the scene at 21:43 hours.
