What Caused the Rainbow Over the Fire Station? 🌈

Did you happen to catch the beautiful rainbow over the Malvern Fire Company? It was more than just a beautiful sight — it was a little science at work!

A rainbow forms when sunlight passes through water droplets suspended in the atmosphere. As sunlight enters each raindrop, it bends (refracts), reflects off the inside of the drop, and bends again as it exits. This process separates the sunlight into its individual colors, creating the familiar spectrum we see in a rainbow.

For a rainbow to appear, the sun generally needs to be behind the observer while rain or moisture is in front. When the sunlight and raindrops line up just right, nature puts on quite a show!

So, what caused the rainbow over our fire station? A combination of sunshine, lingering raindrops, and just the right atmospheric conditions!

It's a wonderful reminder that even in the middle of a busy day, nature can give us something beautiful to stop and appreciate.

Stay safe, Malvern, and keep looking up! 🌈🚒
