Slow Down. Move Over. Save Lives.

This week, Malvern Fire Company recognizes National Crash Responders Safety Week, a time to recognize and honor the men and women who respond to roadway emergencies and put themselves in harm's way to help others.

Every day, firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, tow truck operators, and highway safety professionals respond to crashes and roadside emergencies. While they are working to protect lives, they face another serious danger — passing motorists.

A roadway emergency can become a second tragedy in an instant.

We ask every driver to do their part:

SLOW DOWN when approaching emergency scenes, roadside incidents, and stopped emergency vehicles.

MOVE OVER when approaching emergency vehicles and roadside responders, as required by law.

STAY ALERT and avoid distractions, especially when traveling near an emergency scene.

GIVE RESPONDERS ROOM to safely do their jobs.

BE PATIENT — a few extra seconds can save someone's life.

Our firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, police officers, and fellow roadway responders leave their homes and families to help others during some of their most difficult moments. They deserve to return home safely, just as much as the people they are working to protect.

At Malvern Fire Company, we ask our community to remember:

The emergency may not be yours, but someone's life may depend on how you drive.

Please Slow Down. Move Over. Give Us Room to Get Home.
