November 27, 2014

At 23:26 hrs Stations 54 & 56 (Goshen) were dispatched to the 1000 block of Carolyn Drive in Westtown Township for a house fire. Initial reports indicated that the fire was in the attached garage. Additional updates were received advising of a working fire and that everyone was out of the house.

At 23:34 hrs the Working Fire Dispatch was alerted adding Air 52 (Goodwill of WCFD), Ladder 53 (Fame of WCFD), Ladder 4 for RIT and Medic 91 (CCH). Engine 54-1, Tower 54 and Ladder 56 arrived to find heavy fire on the Bravo side of the home with an exposure risk of the neighboring house. The fire had extended from the attached garage in to the first and second floors of the home.

Chief 54 (Everhart) established the Carolyn Drive Command and additional crews from Goshen and WCFD arrived and went to work with fire supression, throwing ladders, ventilation, hot spots and overhaul.

The crew of Ladder 4 established a RIT staging area in the front yard, completed 360 degree checks, threw ladders and stoodby in case of a firefighter emergency. Fortunately there were none.

Initial crews were able to prevent the fire from extending to the neighboring home, however there was significant heat damage. Delco Ladder 41 (Newtown Square) was also pulled in to the scene for manpower as there was an extensive amount of overhaul to be completed.

The Fire was placed under control around 01:30 hrs and Ladder 4 was released at 01:50hrs. The Chester County Fire Marshals Office is investigatin the cause of the fire and there were no reported civilian or firefighter injures.
